“This was the best National Night Out we’ve ever attended”
Even though the clouds threatened and it was an uncomfortably warm and humid (at least by Southern California standards) evening, the 2017 National Night Out in the Old Ranch Center in Seal Beach was a resounding success. The National Night Out (NNO) event is part of an annual community-building campaign promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live. Our NNO event enhances the relationship between neighbors and city, county and state law enforcement and first responder agencies. It’s bringing back a true sense of community.
Millions of neighbors take part in NNO events across thousands of communities in all fifty states, U.S. territories and military bases worldwide on the first Tuesday in August.
“You’re going to look out for someone you know, much more than you are a stranger.”
And that is the point. When we know our neighbors, we are in a better position to help and be helped when it’s needed. And there will come a time for each of us that we will need help. This event provides the community a terrific opportunity to see and meet our first responders, ask them questions, and discover some of the resources that are available to us – all while enjoying a fun evening with our family and neighbors.
Thanks & Photos
West Orange County CERT would like to thank our own Marie Sorensen for her organization, planning, and orchestration in making this event a reality. Together with the Seal Beach Police Department and NNO Sponsor Target, this event was great for our community. Here are some photos from this year’s event.
